Summer Doldrums No motivation means no progress

July was excessively hot here in South Carolina. We had a number of days in the triple digits, and the 90-degree days were so humid it seemed like I was wet the second I went outside. The heat and my new foal, Sunny, have zapped my motivation for riding and driving. It is easy to spend and hour with Sunny, just watching him run around and giving him scratches. Because everything (well, almost) ponies do is cute. Pony foals are the cutest, ever.

Zoey and I practice on a super sweltering day. We are crazy.

Aside from the driving  clinic I did in July and trying saddles for Zoey, I feel like I have made little progress with my riding and driving. I know that part of my problem is not having an immediate goal to work toward. So, I entered Zoey and I in a schooling dressage show August 29. It is right up the road from us here in Aiken at Three Runs Plantation. Zoey and I will be doing Intro A and Intro B. I had really hoped to be past Intro level by now, but all the dressage tests have canter elements, which we still have not done. Maybe this will be the kick in the pants we need.
